Fairbridge Rd. London. N16

The existing building (an old piano factory) was a three-storey brick and concrete structure. We covered the external envelope in 100mm insulation, which was then rendered or clad in Siberian larch. A new floor was added using a timber frame structure with solar hot water panels to the roof. The new four-storey accommodation comprises of a ground floor flat with a 3-storey dwelling above with recording studio and two outdoor terraces. The refurbishment has reduced energy consumption/carbon emissions by 40% (as measured in the first year after completion).

Additional improvements included:
Argon filled, aluminium clad, timber windows
FSC sourced timber throughout
Wood burning stove to the 3rd floor
Earthborn eco-paint to interior walls and ceilings
PV panels
Water saving sanitary ware and taps
New timber and steel staircase to 3rd floor
First Floor Roof Terrace Features Wormery Vegetable garden
Wall mounted rainwater collection butt
Eco-resin panels by 3M with a 40% recycled plastic content.
